Hover over the hearts
On February 9, 2020, after two months of messages on OkCupid, Angela and Steven finally met on Dean Street. What had started as a digital connection suddenly became real. Neither of them could have imagined how much their lives were about to change.
One evening, they sat down to draw each other’s portraits. Angela’s looked just like Steven. Steven’s looked less like Angela, but it held something just as true: his enthusiasm, carefully pressed into every line. It was through each other’s eyes that they began to see more than faces. They learned about each other’s culture, the quirks that made them special, and the stories that shaped their being.
Weeks later, the world shut down. Tucked safely indoors, they built a little world of their own, filled with shared meals, oldies like Rocky, new shows to discover, and many moments grinding on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Their home grew fuller with love. They first shared life with their cat, Strudel, whose passing deepened their tenderness for one another. Now Goguma and Mochi fill their days with comfort and joy, and dreams of one day welcoming a big dog into the family.
Five years later, he proposed at Untermyer Gardens with words that made Angela’s heart flutter.
From a swipe on OkCupid to saying yes, their story will continue as the Sotos, building a life rooted in love, culture, and the small moments that make a house a home.
